CMI one looks far superior, has lot better reviews, rope doesn't flick out as easy as Pantin.

CMI for sure ive got both and the cmi is way better your right there ekka i use the pantin on my blue tounge and my cmi on my static...WHY you ask when working around the tree standing in unions etc the size of the cmi foot ascender wont let you put your foot comfortably in the union, whereas the pantin is heaps smaller and more discreet, i also use the cmi for SRT because it has the cam lock and when running up the rope you can get the rope wailing around, my pantin doesnt have a camlock and comes out everyone once in a while, but im already connected with my DRT so im still connected

Cheers,
Cole

Been using a Pantin for about a year. Can't comment on the CMI because I've never used one. As Cole pointed out the smaller size of the Pantin allows you to place your foot into a tighter union. And I have noticed that the rope does occasionally pop out of the Pantin unexpectedly. It's a catch 22 because there are times when you want to quickly disengage the thing from the rope, for that the Pantin is pretty effective.
