Try a Harrison rocket throw bag. Just search it here.

You should crack 30m easy, pull harder!

I'm with Eric Big Shot can reach over 50m without much effort. I've fired it 100m horizontal (don't ask!!) pull harder and have the line laid out loosely on the ground..no twigs of course!

Yep the line being free to unspool will help. How long is the pole? Pull it right down dropping to one knee and fire!

They send golf balls quite some distance too

I find with the trees here in florida, that I need to judge the distance, then lay out the line, then put my foot on the line to prevent it from over shooting too far. This is urban territory and over shooting can land it right in the neigbors yard, breaking stuff. I've broken screens, pottery, ect. And they make one h%#l of a noise when they hit the neigbors roof.

I was hand throwing 18oz over the bloodwood I did on Sunday and the bag wouldn't come down ... the line goes under a slither of rough bark and cuts in.

I have a 20oz for the same reason, gotta have a few in your kit.

It's a bit wild when you use the big shot and get a ricochet of the trunk too. LOL

That's a good tip, hardly ever use the big shot up here trees are just not that big, but let the line run through my finger tips to stop it as precisely as I can...very frustrating when you stop it dead just short of the crotch you're aiming for!!

Well the trees here are not that big eather, but the bigshot is very accurate, and can be shot straight up.

I seem to use 12 oz more than anything else, but a 10 oz Harrison rocket is my favorite to shoot. With the 10 oz, I'll fire it up and over and then let the bag drop straight to the ground, attach some extra weight, then haul it back up and fish it, I mean, trace the line back over any limbs. I have had too many good shots go bad after trying to trace the line back and there's not quite enough weight for good line control.

Ever notice the effect where you can drain precision shots all day long until a client is standing there watching you? Must have some connection to Murphy's law.

I'm with TM on Murphy's Law, 12oz bag also. Haven't tried the H-rocket. I've found I need more weight when the 1.75 zing it gets broke in, and less with a new piece as it seems to slide better. I use a square cat litter bucket to hold my line, and it seems to knot up less than anything else I have tried. (yes, it's an empty cat litter bucket). I duct taped pouches on the outside made of scrap foam for a couple of throw bags so I can just pop the top off and shoot.

Cat litter box, cool idea. I use a five gallon bucket with s-hooks around the rim to hold my throw bags. Never have any tangle problems.

Yea, pull hard on the big shot but give the rubber time to strech also. Use a smaller diameter throwline, the smaller and lighter the better when bigshoting. Try elios throw line, its got a waxy coting on it so seems to run much better over branches. Throw bag weight around 10oz, but down to 8oz is good depending on bark and throwline weight

Harrison rocket is a must!

Should be able to get 50 to 70m, 40m very accurately.

I've never tried the big shot pole, as I went cheap and use an aluminum one. I had some problems at first with occasional mis-fires, and started to get some damage to the pouch. I used electrical tape to make a smooth transition between the pole and the bigshot head and the problems went away. I can reasonably assume the pouch was catching on the bottom end of the bigshot head. My pole just fit inside it, so it only had about 2.5mm to catch on. Does the bigshot pole provide you with a smooth joint there, or does it have similar problems?

Oops, Also, if you shoot out of a bucket, it's easy to grab the line just as it passes through your target crotch and stop it.

Throw bags are an art like pruning. Takes a while to master it but is incredibly useful in the end. You can either slowly advance up a tree or have your line set with cabium saver while still on the ground, then its just straight up.
