Default Morbark 18"

I was out at a_lopa last week with the Morbark reps and thought I'd get some pics and video for you guys of his machine running... Its a 18" hurricane (and has since been rebranded a M18R by Morbark) with 143HP John Deere. Jason (a_lopa) is really happy with it.

Check out the videos here:

I was impressed that the morbark designer and sales manager came out from the USA and wanted feedback from the crew! They seem honest and genuinely intent on getting morbark out there more in Aus.There a strong chipper that's well thought out there is no doubt about it.

Im looking forward to buying another!

Looks like your area really copped it on Saturday Lopa.I was looking at the BOM radar on Saturday and Pakenham,Druin area had the color black all over the top of it .Ive never seen that color come up on the radar that much before. Was it heavy rain or did you cop the hail like they did in Melbourne.

The Morbark must be pumping out the chips are you using two trucks to keep up or planning on a bigger truck with bigger bin on the back.

Nothing like a good storm to fill up the work book!!!

I might buy a really big tipper but the size of this one and being 4x4 is most important at the moment.Easier to sell a small load of chips than a big load and get in alot more places.

Was alot of rain quickly!

Great pics Jason! Man I love winches. Every single chipper even our midget 150xp chipper is equiped with one. THEY ARE SO HANDY!!! Tip: Buy yourself a 4wd pulley so you can set different winching directions when access cant be gotten inline with brush to be chipped.

I like your pic of excavator + chipper. The ex makes your chipper look like a tonka toy similar to when our biggest chipper makes our 5 ton ex look like a tonka toy..

Feeding any chipper with a grapple equipped mini-loader is very good too

What do you think of them? In my limited experience of Morbark chippers, they don't impress me. Played with a 9" disc and a 12" or 13" tornado drum a few years ago, but neither fed as well as a Bandit or BC 1800XL.
Maybe the new ones are better?

I have only used my 2400xl 18" in the morbarks, the 31" wide x20" high opening is the best ive seen to drag a head of a tree thru for its SIZE its not a huge looking machine compared to others with that wide of an opening and having hydraulic crush.

Heres a dead top of a blackwood tree went thru no problem.

The guys who work for me love it,and its solid build feed with excavator and doesnt get bashed up.

A big opening has eliminated moving blocked up firewood a few times just throw it all thru.

Looks pretty handy mate. The new model should be even better. Seldom see a Morbark around here these days, although I saw Active using a Morbark 9" on line clearance work near Bowral on Friday.
