Those are pretty high hours.

A nice condition 252 stump grinder here with 790 hours on it is listed on CL for $4400 USD. Stateside. I dunno what they go for there.

I have only run Bandit chippers, so I do not know what the Vermeer chippers go for.

Whats the truck? It is a Vermeer BC1000 or BC1000XL? 2200 isnt really a lot if you think about it, the machine would get used everyday. Take a look at the Vermeer used equipment section of their site to see some prices/hours on the BC1000s.

Had a look at your set-up on the trading post website, looks like a good setup for a start up business.
From what I could see of the chipper and looking at the vermeer website id probably ask for a little more than $15k but it comes down to the condition.
Stump grinder is way off I just bought the same model used with half those hours and paid half as much just seems a little high to me.

All in all looks like a great setup i have one very similar and works great for me. Shame you have to sell it mate.
Good luck with the sale.

Sorry thats must have read it all wrong as I said I bought a similar setup and it works well for me id say its a good buy if everything checks out.
As I said chipper is a little low given other machines are selling in the $20k for a comparable used model. Hours are not the be all and end all in good condition and kept that way a chipper will just keep going.

$15,000 for a 252?

$5,000- $8,000 even in good condition, there's a few around.

Truck price is a bit high for an 84, but it's a good setup. Diahatsu are not tilt cab, can be a PITA to work on.

Chipper price, but it looks like it's had a quick respray.

Lots of tree guys selling stuff because of ill health, be careful. Go and have a look if you are serious, but $38,000 is a bit high I reckon.

Maybe you can beat him down on price.

I reckon $28K the lot, do not compare to yard prices compare to auction prices .... this guy is in no mans land surrounded by troppo Queenslanders and 2000K of milage/freight every way he looks.

In his area not many will do trees for a living coz the climate and bugs suck.

If he's truly crook he'll grab the money and run .... get the truck checked for rego transfer first make sure it's OK.

Not sure what happens if he's been chucking palms through that chipper but you better do your checks coz he lives in banana and coconut palm city.

Trucks worth $3-5k

Grinder $4-6k

Chipper without a good look between $8-15k,looks early model with re-spray

I think that the consensus here is to pass on this one at that price. The stump grinder is way overvalued. And those are high hour machines, regardless. Bearings on chippers are REALLY spendy.

Personally I think you are better off to buy them one at as time. That is what I have done. Find a good chipper. Find a good truck. Find a stump grinder. Sometimes a good truck goes with a good chipper around here, but that is pretty rare.

a-lopa is spot on with his estimates.

You always have to worry when some one does a dulux overhaul(respray) on old machines and not a very good one at that.

Remember that allot of businesses have taken advantage of the 50% investment allowance for new equipment. Therefore there is allot of very good, cheap second hand equipment around at the moment especially chippers.

Take your time its a buyers market .

I think im the 3rd or 4th + on this post. That Vermeer is definitely old, not an XL for sure. If its palm country around there you definitely want someone with the knowledge of these machines to take a look to see whats rusted out, this goes for any other machines you are looking @ in QLD.
