Default Merrell's high traction boot

Was wondering if anyone has used these Merrell calk boots. I know they say not for use with a chain saw. Doesn't look like they would hurt a tuff-bark tree like a fir or an oak. Could they be used in a competition? Seems like they would work pretty well.

I would use them for ice fishing.

Perhaps for golf too or aerating a lawn!
