Default to lease or not to lease?

Hi everyone, we are undecided about whether to lease a chipper and truck or to buy. Anyone got any ideas? Is there anything we should be on the look out for? Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

can anyone tell me a general price for leasing a 3 tonne truck with chipper? Anyone leasing equipment at the moment? Can you tell me any pitfalls with leasing that a newbie should know about, or is it the best thing ever? Thanks.

I looked into leasing with a few companies but ended up buying second hand. A few of the leasing companies indicated that i could not make modifications to the truck like having a chipping canopy permanently installed Im not sure if they were giving me the right information but if they are then that is something to think about.

The up sides that I have heard for leasing is the maintenance and repair is their responsibility to a certain point. You still need to do basic maintenance but if something major was to go wrong out of your control then im led to believe it is the leasing companies pocket the repairs come from.

Just a few things I have heard when looking into it myself dont know how correct it all is but its a starting point for some questions at least.

I know Rayco leases equipment now, I'm not sure about the others. How long do you intend on leasing the equipment for? I would say if its more than like 2-3 months you'll be better off buying second hand as you'll end up spending enough money to have bought a second hand truck and chipper including mods you need to make.

I have always bought my equipment. The leaseing companies obviously make healthy profits at the lessee's expense.
