That picture is a picture of the "blow air pipe" rented out for $6 a day at a rental equipment shop. They rent out the pull behind air compressor for it too.

I'm wondering if that pipe is good enough to aerate the roots or not. I'm trying to save $2,000 on an air knife.

If that doesn't look like it would do the job, does anyone have any advice on making a home made air tool?

Thanks

Can't say if it will work or not. What I do know is the super sonic tips are what make the air spade what it is and allows for efficient use around tree roots.

If you could get hold of some tree spade tips and get them to fit to your device then it might work. Just have to make sure that all components will withstand the pressures required to use the tool.

Let us know how it goes if you can get it to work just as well as the air spade I would be very interested.

Having a 45 degree nozzle is the way to go, that way you can get under and around.
