Hi All, Am wondering about going in at the deep end and buying a 14mt lightlift picker. Who has one? Are you happy with it? Any regrets or pitfalls? Cheers All in advance |

Some have them and swear by them. I hired the 14.7m and swore never again, hated it. The reach from the turret is bad, the room for the outriggers is bad, the going out of balance and getting stuck thing is terrible. I cut a bit of log and held it in the bucket with me, it started beeping and carrying on, then cut out. Personally, I HATED IT and swore to never hire another and look for an alternative way of doing the job or getting a proper boom truck in there.

Around that size you are better with a 9-11meter telescopic on a small truck has alot more side reach and cheaper to buy(second hand)

Ive hired them, i think if you were buying one you need to go bigger to get some reach.

I am also considering an EWP and maybe a Hinowa, but more likely the 19M one. I see one for sale in WA at http://tinyurl.com/2cp5n4q I live on the East cost so no use to me. I'm keen to know what issues you have come across in your investigations. Are you still looking? Last edited by Eric Frei; 25th September 2010 at 05:04 PM. Reason: changed link |

Thanks for your help gents, picked up a 14mt unit at auction this week, demo unit with 17hrs and about half the price of a new one. |

Why are you not interested because it is in WA? Freight is not a huge deal if the price is right.

I would look for an something else and not the Hinowa, the Monitor spider is better it has less electrics on it and is easier to use. It also I believe gives more out reach. |
