Has anyone out there been using Vermeer Yellow Jacket stump grinder teeth and how are you finding them? They cut well and have virtually no pocket wear but seem to lose their edge fairly quickly. The upside is the speed at which the new face can be turned and grinding started again. Price per cutting edge works out much cheaper than other teeth we have used. Be careful if fitting new pockets because some six fingered banjo picker at the factory forgot to tap the threads right through and the cap scew in the first pocket siezed up when tightened with impact wrench. Took out lots of metal when i ran a tap through other new pockets. Am running Vermeer sc352 diesel grinder and found productivity increased dramatically with the new cutting system |

I'm still using the pro teeth and pockets but when they go I will upgrade to the yellow jackets myself.I'm still grinding with my trusty 222. Good to know about those teeth, can they be sharpened?. I am getting about six months out of the pro teeth, green wheel and keeping them sharp.

Impact wrench should be unnecessary for the teeth themselves. 225 foot-pounds to mount the pockets, but only something around 35-40 foot-pounds for the teeth. The vermeer dealer actually had a sticker to put on the machine to indicate this. I can find the exact amount if you want, but the dealer should have a proper torque spec. | |
