Got a Sequoia Just recieved my sequoia saddle!!! Come in from Sherill, ordered 3 small caritools with it. Was surprised they also threw in a large caritool also. Sweet!! Pulled it out of the box and saw the cool bag it comes in and couldn't believe there was a saddle in the bag. I am use to the versatile saddle. So I opened the bag and sure enough there it was!! Like a kid at christmas I was in the saddle. Once I figured the quick clips out and hung my swivel from the bridge out the door I went. I didn't even notice that I was wearing it. Very comfortable around the waist.. I clipped into my climb line and hung there, swung around, little limb walk, then down. My excitement had dwindled somewhat. Back to the house, small fight with the quick clips. Time too look at my new saddle. $320 Pros: 1. super light 2. comfortable, 3. waistband breathable, 4. looks ultra cool, 5. storage bag. Cons: 1. Quick clip connectors (made of nylon plastic could see problems with wood chips clogging release button. In the cold freezeing and or cracking. If your like me and have a thicker trunk hard to undo waist belt.
2. elastic strap going to leg wraps single stitched in. Good for flexibility but as durability ???? 3. Lack of hooks. But easily taken care of by carritools. 4. waist belt, again durability, you can see through it in spots. After a few months of 5 days a week climbing, bending, twisting. Is it going to have that nice fit tight to the waist, or blue jean rool over?? 5. storage bag?? great idea but after I put my tools, lanyard, caritools on, no way is it going to fit in this bag. Which tells me this may not be a saddle for the everyday climber.. So back in the bag, the box, ups, annd Sherril it goes. Back into my versatile deluxe. PS. I had no problem at all with the people Sherrrill about the return awsome |
