hi treeworld I`m planning to get myself a new chipper. I`d like to fix it on my ford ranger pickup direct on the frame (270deg turnable). that makes it the same hight as on a trailor. My opinion is, that I`m more mobile in gardens etc. and if nessessary I could chip into my trailor. is there any experienced person out there? any ideas if good or not? I hope to hear from you guys. Thanks, becks |

Ive used 12" chipper fixed onto the back of trucks,I cant see why not to do it. They used a PTO on the gearbox to run the chipper and worked very well,Was German hydraulics as well.

Sounds like it could be a neat set up, especially if you often have jobs where the chips can remain on site. Make sure you show us photos of the end result if you do build it. Have you seen HolmenTrees set up in this thread? The whole lot is on a trailer. Your idea sounds even more versatile. |

I'd be fairly concerned about the weight on a vehicle as light as a ford ranger. Even if it's a 4x4, if the suspension is stock, you're going to be setting on your bumpstops. That is, unless you get a fairly light chipper.

thanks for your replies! alopa, what the .... means PTO? flashd, the chipper (18cm) will have a weight about 1ton more or less. thats the (small) size we usually use bcause firewood is quite a deal at my place. picts will follow when realised in sept/oct. cheers, becks |

Holy shit, if I had the money I would buy that thing. Nice strong engine too for the chipper, 120hp, ours only puts out like 24... Trees would be sucked through that thing.

Hell with the chipper. That is one cool Mog. Looks like a butchered Bandit chipper on that thing. Seems it would be easier if they just left it on a trailer. |
