Whats going on all? I've been in the industry for 4 years now and just bought a 1998 Asplundh Whisper Chipper. It has a straight 6 cylinder and I think a 16 inch drum. I bought the chipper from a reputable company who claims they look over the chipper and fix whatever it needs, check the drum and bearings, the whole nine yards. The chipper eats wood great theres a couple of things though that i have questions about. I have used these chippers before and in Idle the clutch usually engages. On mine the place where i bought it claimed that i had to throttle up into a higher idle to get the clutch in so the engine wont stall. Is this common with these? The mechanic there said that thats how altec instructed them to engage it.

Spent 2 -3 years behind one of these. Whisper tish they whine and howl. Recall clutch was n easy push in with a tad of rev not full just enough to get her spinning. They suck fuel like no other about double+ a diesel but cheap to buy n fix just scary to use do take care. |
