Ekka, is the "saftey harness" one of those yellow, 2" strap deals that goes around your legs and upper body and has the big ring on the back? If it is, I've got one sitting out in one of my equipment boxes, you can have it =) I was up a tree in Lake Hughes, it had started to get dark so we drove the trucks up on ramps and turned on the headlights. That and headlamp worked fine. Was finishing up and some yokel stopped off the side of the road and walked over, started yelling up at me. "What the F are you wearing? what the F kinda harnes is that? You're F'ing crazy son! What the F are you working in the dark for? I've got a F'ing saftey harness at home, I dont F'ing know you, but I'll drop it off here tomorrow." Since I know the owner of the house, he called me up and said, true to his word, the guy dropped off a rear-saftey ring harness for me. I havent touched it since. It's not the kinda thing you'd need for tree-attatchment climbing. |

It's like that everywhere you go it seems. When companies like this, get the Monopoly on it's take it or leave it, attitude. if you ask meI was talking to my neighbour, and he told me he went and got Acetylene, and Oxygen, and the price if getting way out of hand. They have a charge for transportation, even when you go and pick it up at the store, and there is a few other charges as well, to go along with it. Getting ridiculous. Heck even on the hydro bill, there is a transportation charge on it. I told the hydro company, that I never seen a truck come in and deliver the electricity to the farm, how can you charge for that.Heck in the trucking industry, they call it a Fuel Surcharge, to copansate for the high price of fuel. Once again, take it of leave it attitude. They have you bent over a barrel, and they know it. Sorry for the Bad Language. Bruce.

No worries, everyone needs to keep an eye on their gears expiry dates, hard hats also have expiry times.

| Just a thought, but wouldn't the material in this outfit be still OK, and just get it re sewn, or is the whole thing past expiration? Thanks. Bruce.

Thanks Ekka. I have no experience with any of that equipment, that is why I was asking. Bruce.

Like I said, I've never used it. It doesn't even look like it's seen much actual use. The straps are all in good condition, no cuts or poofs. It just looks like it's been lying around for a long time. But the date on it is "1/91", so if you think about it, its 18 years old!! ![]() Obviously the guy who gave it to me, for the purpose he thought he was giving it to me for, had no understanding of retiring old equipment instead of handing it down to people. I cut it up earlier tonight. Kept the big D-ring. |
