Jst wanted to get some feed back from you other guys about using the Big Shot launcher. I love mine and can't imagine not using one. They most certainly fall into the "WORK SMART , NOT HARD" category. I set rigging lines above 100' all the time on some super nasty trees, that would have required climbing before. The Big Shot is worth its weight in gold, it has saved me literally thousands of $ over the last few years |

Couldn't be without it! Also when there's a small "window" to shoot through you can power up real good and punch through the canopy, however throwing the bag means a curved and less powerful shot and you wouldn't get the same result. Definitely a piece of gear you need.

Love my big shot, don't leave home without it. Like you say you can set rigging lines as well as climbing line. |

i find it very hard to aim without the trigger fitted on it. Indeed a very worthy piece of equipment. ya'll seen the trigger mechanism before? Just in case some of of you may wonder... I, quercus, do sollomly swear to at least visit the "world" once a day again and post instead of lurk... after been absent for so long, I have been missing it ever since. LOL |

I have a trigger but rarely use it, dont like it much ... maybe got a dud one. I use the big shot a lot to set ropes high for felling trees.

A Big Shot with a trigger ?? that ive never seen anyone got a pic ? I personally prefer to ''throw in'' , but in tricky areas where one cant throw its a God Send used it aswell to install rigging ropes , can be a real time saver ! |

I've never tried the trigger, but it does look kind of "cheesy".You can pick the Big shot up at "Hallssafety.com".The head only is $69.95 (item#BS1) and the head with two 4' fiberglass poles is $119.05 (item#BS1-KIT). Thats the cheapest I've seen. You guys that don't have one,,, You have got to try it out. It pays for itself on the first job and puts profit in your pocket on every other job. |

I'm sorry, if you visit the hallssafety website ,the bigshot is on page 255 of the catalog. Or type "Big Shot" in their seach box.

So we went to a equestrian shop , today and picked one up , it does however look slightly different from the pics above , trying it out tomorrow See how she goes ! Go figure.... I can whip out my 660 with a 36" on it, and some of the homeowners are interested. But when I pull out the Big Shot, they are all impressed. Best conversation starter there is, especially with kids ! |

Would be hard to work without one. I'll use it on low shots just for accuracy. Setting up my adjustable false crotch over a Royal palm or washy would be difficult, if not impossible without one. |

Dont go with the kit two piece pole that they want to sell you with the bigshot, if you use the trigger on the prussic to pole attachment, you are unable to pass the middle of the pole where it joins and it limits the power of the shot. Get a single length jamison fibreglass pole if you don't already have one and use that or even a rake pole will make do on the spot.

Put the prussik the other side of the join, tension, clip the tensioned load into the clip and then slide the prussik etc down further for a good shot.

I'd never heard of one of these before, so i googled images and there it was, so its basically a big shanghi is that right? Personally i prefer to use a P.V.C cannon with a tennis ball stuffed in to it, i have the ball tied to roll of bailing twine which just unravels as it shoots over a tree, every shot is a winner and it shoots very straight. Anyone else try it before? |

Nice toy and pics mate My cannon is only for rural only use as it tends to shake the windows a bit in suburbia. |

Do they use compressed air or an actual ignition of a type of gas?

Been using the Big Shot over the past month or two, and would not want to be wiothout it now. Find we can get a much mpore accurate shot, we use it on most trees, unless it is a real short toss, the BS just gives you a repeatable accurate shot every time. Our crew was on it an getting good shots within an hour, whereas with just a throw ball, it would have taken a long time to just get the crew to come to terms with throwing the ball in. Big Shot kiks ass plain and simple. Definitely works smarter eh Therrin ? Get one and start having a blast......they are cheap when you start thinking of all the time they will save you, -Grais. |

I use plain cheapo hairspray in mine, its the vaporised alcohol, thats the propellant gas. Ether based sprays that u use to start cars with works great too, sometimes to great Its best used in A.B.S cannons as the plastic is tougher than PVC.
