Hi all! I have a Bandit 65E with the Lombardini powerplant I bought second hand from Bandit in Melbourne and I'm quite happy with the little fella. However, once the machine runs for around 45 minutes the revs slowly recede until the machine is at idle, regardless of the throttle position. If you let the machine cool it will operate again, but the issue repeats itself after only 15 or 20 mins. I am asking here as I have spoken to Bandit and had the machine in at a diesel specialist for nearly 3 weeks and the issue is unresolved. Everyone has run out of ideas, and I'm running out of places to stack branches! So far we have addressed the following issues: Fuel tank not breathing - cap was tested and extra ventalation added, plus when machine played up, cap was removed with no result. Fuel lines leaking air - system was pressure tested Fuel supply issue - new fuel pump fitted, new fuel filter fitted, tank flushed, lines cleared with compressed air Additionally the machine has had the injector pump inspected and injectors serviced. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this frustrating issue? Thank you! Ben |

Hi a_lopa. What would a hot injector pump do? Alter fuel delivery? Overheat the fuel? Or something else? it would be possible to mount a small thermonfan next to injector pump, might grab one on the weekend. Thanks, Ben |

Had a hilux that would be fine driving 10-20kms then once the injector pump got hot it slowed down and down and down, thats what made me say that. Bandit in Melbourne are pretty good they have found hard faults for me before. best of luck

How did you fix the hilux? This pump has been inspected but had no work done on it since my ownership (only 17 hours work). Cheers, Ben |

Ok, so I resolved this issue some weeks ago and am happy now it's sorted. The fuel cutoff solenoid and fuel filter assembly are mounted directly below the exhaust, so the fuel line loops a number of times within close proximity to the exhaust. Relocated filter assembly, re-routed fuel lines = problem solved. So simple........ |

Well done, I gotta Bandit 65 Kohler petrol that had similar fuel fade. Tried all the fixes as yours, then realized the in line filter was too big. I had put a car Z filter on and it had more air in it than the crank vacuum fuel pump could suck, new smaller filter all fixed. The auto feed dead now, Grr a new eletronic box is $900+ hmm it can wait I scrounge up second hand part one day. |
