Default any suggestions on portaledges

im thinkin about pickin up a portaledge of some sort. preferably an enclosed one, anyone ever use one, have one, or want to comment on them. i just want it for the occassional camping trip or just to mess around in on day trips. how much will they hold and how compact are they. what are the chances i can get my mutt{black lab} up in it with me, will his claws tear it? if the dogs out then so is the little woman. her claws are way worse

I'm not sure most portaledge companies have much empirical data on ...um... uh... use of portaledges while feeling frisky.

I'd sure sign up for the test trials though!!! I'd be a good control for the long end of the spectrum, at 79".

79" tall, that is.

I've only ever used a single-point tie-in portaledge. I'd suggest it over the two-tie in point "boat style". Levels itself. I'll have to think about the claw issue. Hmmm.

Therrin,

do you know how to use Google? don't expect that I'm going to do homework for anyone.

There are plenty of PL reviews and comparisons from users available.

Several arbos have bought econo ledges and find that they are a good value.

Mine is a six strap PL...I'd rather have a four strap because it's quicker to level.

there are instructions for making a PL using pvc tubing on the web...ask Google. The plans have been around for years and I've read good reviews on its durability.

Yeah, and thanks for the flippant answer. Do you know that 99.99% of everyone on here knows how to use a search engine? And that if everyone spent all their time googling everything, we wouldn't even NEED a forum?

If you're going to supply info, you should expect QUESTIONS about it, since its a FORUM, instead of being lazy and just saying "go google it".

T,

not being flippant...there is SOOO much good info on Fish's site that I've learned from. Rather than transcribing all of that info it makes more sense to read it from the source.

Waiting for a four sentence reply is no way to learn about all of the PL's out there.

I really don't want to get into pissing matches with anyone...what is the purpose?

No need for a pissing match

Didn't realise you were actually being SERIOUS asking me about google (thx, I use Yahoo though) =)

I think that alot of people google things anyway, and they ask your/my/other's opinions on here, thinking you may have something in your years of experience that aren't easily found on google <shrugs>

Or, that you could send them to a specific site or two, from a google search, that relate exactly to the topic instead of leaving people searching around.

I've only ever used portaledges on rock, never in trees. I mentioned to someone over here that you guy's use portaledges in trees and he was wondering what trees you use it in? ( I thought primarily Eucs), and why you'd need to be up in the tree that long? Sleepin up there? eh?
Work positioning platform? What's the deal?
