Default Air Burners| Mulching Chipping Alternative

Video of the air burner, low pollution and smoke, ideal for land clearing projects.

Also pit style ones available towable behind cars.

Looks a good idea but argument is not only economics but converting trees to ash rather than alternative products like mulch.

What do you think? I personally think it's great, and the major reason burning went out of vogue was smoke.

I wonder what the CO2 emissions people think, is it better or worse than mulching or tub grinding? You mulch/tub grind, that burns fuel, then you have to transport it too.

My problem with burners is that there has GOT to be a better way of using the energy in all that wood. We're burning a resource. I reckon we need to start thinking about biomass fuelled generators and stuff like that.

If you take into account the lost fuel (burnt wood) air burners start to look pretty bad in CO2 terms.

Arborists have gotta set an example environmentally. We get enough bad press for being tree murderers and all that.

Yes, thank the tree huggers and greenies, at the extremes of all arguments are FANATICS seldom driven by logic and more so by emotion. Whilst some-one ups you for some 2 bit tree in Joe's backyard the govt allows Gunn's logging to build a $1.8billion tree killing plant in Tasmanian forest, go figure.

I know - Tassie is not a good scene.

I've been in NZ for too long and I'm going green (so does food when you leave it out here).....

A guy in a near by town is the sole uk importer of fire boxes, they cost a small fortune! he had to jump through a load of hoops to be able to use them on building sites/land clearing projects in this country..

Around Atlanta GA, USA, the pit burners have been in use for more than a decade. They create really hot fires and little smoke. Typical pits are 10ft. deep, 10ft. wide and sometimes as long as 150ft. Large engine driven fans force air through 3ft. diameter tubes as much as 300ft. away from the burn pit.

souds like alot of prep time for a fire, around here they just usually push it all in a large pile[s] and light it.Most of the time they just dump diesel on it.If not they just take it to the land fill.
