Default Work RADS

Just got one of those notices: "G'day ... you have not posted ... ".

So, FWIW here's a video and pix of my SRT climbing system I've been using for 'bout 2 years now. It may be interesting to some -- works great for me.

"Work RADS" is an SRT system for 'working' a tree without having to add or remove components. It is an adaptation of a 'traditional' RADS climbing technique using minimal components.

WRADS has been working amazingly well for the work I do. Just recently switched to 11mm Velocity which makes it even better.

Thanks, I do like screw links but only in specific applications. The rec climbers got me started using them. Safe? In fact, New Tribe saddles come standard with a screw link (pear) attachment. I use a 4D saddle which is old school but it suites my style. It loads the link to the climb system in three directions. I started using a steel triple lock 'biner but it always got side loaded sometime during every climb. The delta solves that problem -- always dependable to be safely loaded.

Now about; "pain to get off once its been loaded" -- there's a mis-conception about screw links 'locking-up'. I believe it's a simple matter of maintenance. Screw links are more susceptible to dirt than 'biners. They should NOT be oiled -- dry lube is ok, but I just keep 'em clean. If they are kept clean, they always work well.

I also use screw links (oval) in 'fish-pole-rigging'. Screw links seem to be more reliable in situations where they can't be constantly monitored like remote cinching. Don't get me wrong, I love (and use) 'biners but they have a weak point (the gate) that screw links don't have.

But ... all that is personal opinion, preference, style ... whatever
