We used 8mm cord as prussik when i started, but most people i know use 10mm.

Anyone know if there is any legislation for rope diameter?

Lifts and crane ACT rings a bell, but i cant find anything

The only prussic cord i have is 10 mm beeline on my 45' lanyard.I bought it and spliced myself originally for a vt on my climb line but didn't like it.Its tautline hitch for me.

MTS, I don't think there is actual "legislation" against it, but I know in our CoP they want a minimum 8mm diameter for prussic line and a minimum of 11mm for climbing line. I'm not sure if they say should (recomendation) or must (legislation), but my bet would be on should.

The 8mm is really finecky when it comes to over-weighting it/sap - it binds up like a mofo. 10mm slides alot smoother, but I would also guess that it would go wandering alot easier too.

Maybe try a 6 wrap 8mm prussic before the 10mm? See if that works... Keep us posted.

Is that the "working safely with trees"?
I love the 8mm for the VT

Nah, NSW. Code of Practice: Amenity Trees 1997 and the latest 156 page document: Code of Practice: Tree Work 2008. Both here on Tree World, search: Code of Practice tree.
