I just began using the split tail system after using drt with a blake's hitch for 12 years of climbing. I was VERY reluctant to do it, but I've come to find that I love it! I climb with poison ivy (11.7mm as you all know) and I use a 32" 8mm prusik cord with which I tie a VT (valdotain tresse) along with a hitch climber pulley (the new 3 point micropulley from treemagineers). WHAT DIAMETER CORD WORKS BEST FOR POISON IVY AND OTHER SMALL DIAMETER ROPES? Sherril doesn't seem to have the info anywhere and I am still experimenting with it and need some input. It's late and I can't call lanyone either....lol. thanks people!

hey 8mm Yale bee-line ,8mm ice tail, 8mm ocean polyester, 8mm samson ultra-tech. these are all HRC heat resistant, i use 8mm beeline and abuse the the hell out of it daily and i find it really good stands up to anything i throw at it i generally get 3-4 months from one of these. i use the same set up as you and have for 2 yrs or so now that little pulley is a amesome invention it has so many capabilities. i set my VT with 3 wraps and 2 braids. the ice tail i found had a tad too much bite, the ocean polyester was very stiff rope not for my liking. let us know if you have any further queries Cheers Cole. |
