Default split tail systems

i was wondering for a 7/16th (11mm) rope what was the best split tail system one could rig up? im into the tree removal business so i use gaffs(spikes) to get up all my trees but i was wanting to get into more pruning an taking care of the tree than cutting it down..

everyone climb more trees and God bless you

hitch climber is awesome. It's smooth and streamline and there are so many different ways to use it. I love to climb on it, it makes light work of a tall trees... check out:

it's a large .pdf file (about 8MB) but well worth a read. Best system I've every used.

Agreed on the hitch climber, I've been using it for about 14-15 months now and its made life so much easier. I do use mine a bit different to the basic setups there. I have the karabiner through the side hole to the bridge and karabiner to life line in the centre top hole on the hitch climber. For me its been more smoother climbing and the system stays relatively flat, more so than having the karabiners go through the side holes.

I'm using 12.7mm (1/2") Yale XTC with a spliced "Donaghys Armor Prus 8mm Prusik Cord" (the green one!). I'll try to get a pic of my setup at TAFE today. I was previously using a bad batch of 8mm accessory cord, can't remember what it was called but it was pretty bad.

8mm with a micro pulley would be fine. I use a hitch climber, tried with a micro pulley but didn't like the way it sat and fed through.

11mm rope with 8mm prussik tied with a vt or klemheist and a micro pulley to advance is a very simple and effective way of climbing, i use it that way and so do a few of the climbers i work with.
