Yea mate they sure are Harrison Rockets. Be careful purchasing though, there are loads of cheap knockoffs being sold, there is only one true Rocket! Check out this link for more info Legendary Harrison Rocket Throwball

Splicing throwline is a bloody awesome idea. Have to give it a go. Usually I just use a Bowline to lanyard hitch my throwballs on to throwline.

I think it is a very good idea, too. I decided to give it a whack. I am using 60 meters of throwline, 30 M of red 1.75 mm Zing-It and 30 M oforange. This was to better gauge how high a throw, or shot. When I want to try a different line, unreel the whole thing and load from the other end of the length. This first pic, a closeup of the knot. ![]() This second picture, what the storage looks like, and how a knot just sort of screws up the midpoint of the entire length. |

Here is the first attempt at an end-end splice. This was my very first try and admittedly, I didn't have a clue what I was doing. The red Zing-it opens up, the orange fling-it, does not. Therefore, orange inside red. It was not easy getting the red line to expand open. I used sailmaking thread and a big sewing needle to help in opening up the red line. Then a toothpick was used to open it further and remarkably, that worked. ![]() Since I had the needle/thread, and all I had was a line stuffed inside a line, I decided to put in a few stitches. It ended up not being very artistic. It made the overall splice fatter, but it's hard to imagine that it could now fail. It's so much better than the knot. |

So, I gave it a shot and splicing throwline was a piece of cake. Locking brummels on either end. I actually did it while I was setting in a hotel room bored out of my mind. All I used was a sail-makers needle and a coffee stirrer (it was available). Worked great. Sure wish I had that nifty little splicing kit up there...

I use a special braided line when jig fishing, it changes colour every 10m as a depth guage. I'll have a go at doing the same with my throw line now as a height guage! Thanks for the inspiration! |
