Default Splicing Armour Prus Cord 8mm and 10mm

Hi all just wanted your thoughts on splicing armour prus prussic cord.

I have been given specifications that a class 1 double braid splice is the splice for this rope, or should it be a class 2 splice.

It will be used for a foot lock prussic and prussic cord on french prussic

Thanks

Donahys recommend class 2 for all their high modulus fibers as do all the other manufactures. Im in the process of doing research and break tests on various class one splices on these kinds of rope.

For your climbing prussic, core only locking brummals are sufficient given the correct length taper.

Hey Jim/s!

Have you seen Drews break test results?

8mm Armor Prus friction cord with eye-to-eye Type 1 splice
Test 1; 16kN
Test 2: 16kN
Test 3: 17kN
8mm Armor Prus friction cord with eye-to-eye locking brumell splice
Test 4: 24kN
Test 5: 22kN
Test 6: 24kN

Remember, you can double these figures if the friction cord is used in a typical tree climbing configuration.
