hi everyone, does anybody know where there's a diagram that explains how to set up a rigging point from the ground? i remember being shown a long time ago but i've completely forgotten how it's done and it would have come in handy at work the other day. would it be safe to set one up with a running alpine butterfly like you would use setting up an SRT? |

The way I have been taught was to get a throw line isolated in the anchor point you want then using 2 ropes and a rigging block/pulley, tie the pulley to the end of one rope and set the other rope through the pulley. then hoist the first rope up the throw line through the anchor point and back to the ground so the pulley is right up in near the anchor point. then tie off the other end to the base of the anchor tree... the second rope is obviously the work rope for rigging off the block/pulley. Easy to retrieve too !!! |

We use the setup Haydo has mentioned above especially when the point for the pulley is far enough from the climber for it to be a pain for him to climb over there to setup then go back out to where the work is. Its also the way we setup a pulley for a false crotch climbing setup. Nice and fluid! Cheers Leayton |
