Default Removal of pine sap on rope.

hey what is the best thing to get pine sap of your rope, does ordinary laundry powder work or does it harm the rope???

I don't think you should use laundry detergent, only soap. I use Lux soap flakes to wash ropes.

Before you do a pine, fig or similar, cover your ropes in talcum powder. The sap wont stick as much. Just be careful, it makes them a bit more slippery on the prussic.

I just change ends for the hitch and wear it off.

Took down a Corsican pine on Thursday got so sapped up blakes and grillon completley locked up and neither would run at all! The only way we finished the job was to keep sending water up and dowsing my gear till they ran for a bit. made the job 10 times harder as it was a hard take down with loads of cables and over both lanes of the road. Just banged all my gear in the washing machine with a tablet and all is running well again!

Last year during my climbing course we were working on the Pines in the Pine forest in Centenial Park, I thought I'd show one of the teachers the long tailed bowline...

Man was I glad that lunch got called, I didn't leave the loop big enough and it binded with itself cuz of the bloody pine sap and it wasn't retreivable Would have been pretty embarresing I believe I sent my dad up to retrieve it when he was doing his blocking
