Default prusik minder for the non-prusik minding pulley

My rescue team has been testing this little plastic piece out for a little bit. I myself have not had it grow on me much. It is good for when you have min man power, but have been having a problem with it poping off. I think I just have to smooth out the hole a little. What are some thoughts on this.

Interesting, I have been thinking of something similar. The split on one side to get it on and off will be where it opens up and pops off, need to think up a way of preventing that.

I have been thinking of a metal model with a hinge and quick clamp. You close it and use one of these type of gizzmos to clamp it closed.

Nah, velcro sucks.

What about if it opened by twisting it?

So rather than a hinge one end it has a pin in it about half way along one side. You twist it open. When closed the other side that doesn't have a pin has an overlapping edge that prevents it from opening backwards.

If it was steel/alloy it would be strong enough that each face would stand up to the pressure without bending.

Have a look at my diagram.

Why don't you use the pin idea and just use a pin to lock it on the opening side. It would swivel on one pin and use a pin through holes on the opposite side to lock it closed around the line. Or you could use a oval screw link so it's locking and the pin won't fall out.

Yep, I fgure steel or aluminium, maybe 8mm thick and pehaps only 80mm dia

Wont weigh much but weight is not the issue as no-one really has to hold it.

A spring loaded locking pin on the other side eh or perhaps a simple screw.
