i'm looking to buy a new hand pole saw- this will be in tree use only, so telescopic is a must for me, leaning toward one of the silky XL toothed saws so thats going to limit my pole selection, but i've seen there silver poles with the push button and red compression snaps, they are very flimsy and always collapse themselves or expand when making a cut and the saw gets pinched. do they make a more ridged pole, any other suggestions?

Hi there, I had one of those silky pole saws your talking about for three years until it was misplaced or stolen I probably used it for clearing hung up brush mostly. I never ever had it collapse. It did have a rather thin blade which took some technique,I got it jammed and broke the tip off in the first week, but over all it worked well great for getting that last hard to reach sticky out little bits, though hard/imposs to do your under cut & little more than useless at pruning branches thicker than a child's wrist at full extension,My replacement will have a hook which will make it twice as useful. a handy tool if bit pricey. that's my experience & MHO. cheers |
