I am about to buy a new rope, I was thinking either Tachyon or Poison Ivy. Can anyone advise me? I have been told that the Lava Rope you can buy from Sherrill Tree, is different than the Tachyon you can buy in New Zealand or in Europe. Does anyone know anything about this? |

Tachyon & Poison Ivy/Bluemoon are both great climbing lines. Not much between them but my pref is Tachyon. As far as i know Sherrills Lava is Tachyon just in an exclusive colour. As is Poison Ivy the same as Bluemoon. |

I use samson BWR 1/2" for removals, for all other work, 11mm AllGear Neopro 16 strand. i love it, real nice rope and it is a 16 strand in 11mm...nobody else does that right now a 150 foot hank of AllGear's new rope, the Rocket is at Nick's getting tight eyes spliced in as we speak. It is a 24 strand outer jacket, 16 strand core, with a cabled , twisted core inside that...just like lava ![]() AllGear is a sleeper, they make awesome products that I use every day. check them out http://tiny.cc/8Weow Last edited by Jeff Darby; 20th February 2010 at 09:30 AM. Hey Matteo, I bought a hank of Tachyon just after Christmas, and I don't really like it as much as my old blaze, so if you want to buy it off me, let me know! I've just been using it for climbing practice - it's never been anywhere near a work site and is as new as you could want. Also comes with a stylie 'NZ' DB splice. I'll let it go for sweet-stuff all, since it'll sit in my laundry never being used otherwise... |

Im getting some new ropes as well, Im climbing on New England Ultra-vee using mostly a spiderjack & also vt. The 2 ropes i am thinking of getting are the Yale Bandit (same as the blaze) and the Imori (successor to the Yale bluemoon) Ill probably run the spiderjack on one & VT on the other. Any thoughts on these ropes or any alternatives??? any info would be great, Cheers. Last edited by anuvadave; 15th October 2010 at 06:41 AM. |
