TREEGEAR is first in Oz with the KASK Climbing Arborist Helmet. I have been testing these for several weeks now & must say i'm so impressed! This is hands down THE most comfortable helmet out there for climbers by far. It kills my old vertex vent, better in every respect. It is ridiculously light and sits lower on the head so less obstructive. The built in visors in clear or smoked lens are awesome. No fogging like glasses, no glare like mesh. They retract flush with the contour of the helmet, so they dont stick up and get in the way like a mesh screen when flipped up. The interior shell gives better protection in side impacts than suspension harnesses that others have, being more like a hard designed to protect from a falling object. A climber really needs protection when swinging back towards a trunk etc. Not to mention the tinted visor is way coool ![]() YouTube link to TREEGEAR TV video review. ![]() Here's some specs: • Helmet with an innovative design to address the needs of climbing arborists. Lightweight, compact, comfortable and well ventilated thanks to 10 air intakes that keep the head cool at all times. Air intakes protected by an aluminium anti intrusion grille. • Includes both clear & tinted Kask visor as well as Peltor ear defenders with P3A screw attachment. • Provided with a fast, simple and effective size adjustment mechanism consisting of a wheel with a rubber grip on the back of the helmet. • The outer shell is high density and shock resistant. • The internal shell in HD polystyrene has ducts for air flow and recycling. • Provided with external lamp clips made of strong nylon, compatible with all helmet lamps available on the market. • Soft polyethylene headband, fixed to the external shell without rivets. • Inner padding consisting of two separate pieces, headband and disc, fully removable and hand or machine washable at 30°C. Non-allergic, cool, moisture wicking and odour resistant fabric. • Chinstrap with four fastening points at the back for a better fit. Fixed to the shell without rivets. Quick fastening and opening with a safety release system in compliance with EN 397. Provided with two soft polyethylene side retractors to regulate the length of the straps. • Provided with a ring to hook the helmet onto a harness. They are almost available in the states. Lol at JayD Since we have been wearing them there's a lot of "goose" & "maverick" getting thrown around!I'll have a video demo up soon that gives a much clearer idea of just how good they are. You really have to see & hold one to appreciate how far ahead of a vertex vent this helmet is. |

While the comapny that produce these might be an unknown to the arb industry the have solid experience making high end sports helmets for cycle racing, mountaineering, skiing, ice climbing etc. Don't know how you'd go climbing in this one ![]() |

What i really like is how flush the visor is when retracted. Doesn't interfere while climbing, the typical mesh ones stick up like antlers. |

That is a sweet helmet. I was checking them out at the TCIA show in Baltimore in Nov. The vendor had like 20 of them offered him 200 cash but he wouldn't bite. That is on the wish list when available

Pretty sweet looking helmet, looks very comfy too! I still wish they'd make it with a mesh visor option. Bar oil + chip hitting a face shield usually ends up getting gunked up and smeared at some point. I just picked up a set of bug-eyez goggles. They look like normal over-glasses goggles but have a mesh screen instead of the typical goggle shield. Not even the smallest sawdust gets through them (and of course no fogging). I wear them even under my helmet's screen shield for more protection, and they keep my eye glasses from getting oil&grit filled. Any chance they'd at least offer that as an option?? How much do they run for? |

Trev, I gotta say, that helmet looks SWEEET! Love the safety visor aspect the most ++++ It should eliminate the chance for your safetys to be dug into your face upon heavy impact being a single unit... Can't wait for that video review. I may end up ordering one in the next few months...

In my neck of the woods our work place safety inspectors are not that fussy but I know in other parts of the country that helmet might get banned from the worksite. I wouldn't recommend it for ground work because of its limited impact resistence but I see no problem using it aerial. Willard.

A petzl vertex vent with peltor muffs & a gumby mesh visor can cost as much or more than this anyway. Whats the old saying.... Got a $5 head buy a $5 helmet ![]() Really though, here it's about what value do you put on comfort...

With the very real posibility of head trauma in our industry i think this helmet is value for money for climbers. Pure fate has saved me on two occasions, with deadwood falling from an adjacent tree that was being worked on...something just said dont walk that way...and next thing a branch impacts not fifteen feet from me...not my time to go ! The message is dont skimp on your head protection. it may be hard, but it will crack like a egg.

| It's now up John, YouTube link to TREEGEAR TV video review. That should give you a good idea of the product, short of trying one on. |

Helmet looks fantastic! I've often wondered why innovations from other industries take so long to get to the tree industry.. But finally ! My questions are: what is the outer shellmade from? Does it have a 2 year lifespan of similar poly helmets? A little concerned about aluminium over vents for powerline work.. Why doesn't it have the Peltor H10 muffs? They provide maximum protection way over those orange things. Oh and why are they so expensive?? Cheers

Correct ne ifi 'm wrong but the visors seem to bump up the cost signfcantly. A quick scout showed helmet only is about 130 aus , earmuffs 40, visors 130?? Too expensive. I'd like to see thE above offered separately and for money a helmet bag adds zero extra value.

The helmet is also available separately, as are muffs & visors. You can use any Peltor muff with the P3A screw attachment. They are not the slot in type like on a petzl, so be aware not to think you can slap your old muffs on one. Though you may be able to with a P3A adaptor plate. I dont know where in Australia you can get all this for the prices you mentioned, but good luck to you if you can. Like Therrin said, it's $50 more than a petzl/peltor combo at TREEGEAR but other places want more than this kit for a petzl/peltor one. I'm glad i have a helmet bag for my own one, i put it in it after use to help extend the useful life of the safety item that protects my head & my investment in a quality helmet. I didn't get one with my last helmet. |

![]() Deafts the purpose of the design a little though... Ideally the exact same lens design but in mesh would be a cool option, i will put it to them.

They are cool looking helmets, I think if you added a face mic and earpiece you would look the bees knees! The guy I have been working with bought one and has had issues with fitting a petzl mesh-visor as the eye shield gets in the way of the hinge attachment for the visor. Maybe if they solved this problem I would look into getting one, but for now I will stick with my petzl. |
