i heard on the grapevine, it is in fact possible to set a art rope guide from the ground. is this true? has anyone heard or seen anything? ive been trawling the net trying to find some info but i cant seem to find anything. i vaguely remember a demonstration a couple of years ago when i was unfamiliar with the rope guide but i cant remember whether it was setting or retrieving. help would be muchly appreciated |

So yea, you need another throwline through the shackle before you pull the system into the tree. Once the rope and ropeguide is installed, you run the TAIL of your rope up through the shackle. Bit too much work but thats how its done, saves you using twice the length of your rope to include the shackle. Think you will have big problems trying to putt the tail through the shackle unless you put a band on the end...

I used that system on a 20 meter leaner with no real safe attachment points at alma park zoo a few weeks ago and it was a real energy saver it seems long winded but has its applications in the right situations nice one jim

the best feature about the rope guide is it cinches down, meaning it does not need a crotch. IMO if you want to use a crotch then its better to use a non adjusting friction saver. i have posted a pic of the one i made at home, its tenex hollow braid covered with a nylon tube, easy to set and remove from the ground, its also cheap and crafty, they last a very long time. i can set up the rg by throwing a bight of rope but i seldom ever do. the rg is an awesome tool. IMO a.r.t. has the best stuff on the market, i have every tool they make sept. fer the latest rg, IMO it looks like crap. |

When i first started one of our boys knew the secret of setting the line from the ground and he told us all- " u cant be shown - u have to earn it",,, bastard.. it is an awesum tyrick saves so much effort and is SO EASY once u have seen it- i wont describe it- get hold of JEFF JEPSOMS book on the basics of tree climbing - it is a great resource and explains it well.. hope this helps
