i can use either a ball the same as the rope guide uses or what i have on my ropes is heat shrink with glue on the inside so its get stuck on the retriever bit, works very well. ive found it better than the tape rope guides. comes out much easier.

How i retrieve my rope guide...Basic as ya can get, exactly enough tape on the throat of the splice, also protects the whipping. Hey Jtrouse, the only thing im not really fond of there on ya rope guide is the ring above the prussic. In the very unlikely chance the ring was pulled down, it could release your prussic, like i say though very unlikely. I do see you have a stopper knot there too, so pretty much impossible. What about this; If my system was like that i would get like a length of 2mm dynema hollow braid or something, splice the shackle onto the dynema and with this, tie a prussic above your ropeguide prussic where you have the ring. Exactly the same result and looks pretty. I havent tried it my self but may be something to give a go... |

If your already up in the canopy and you want to reposition your rope to a different branch say from 4-6 meters away, is that easily done with the cacoon devices? |

ive got it setup like that so if it gets chocked off around the branch it will loosen it then pull it out, ive got heat shrink with glue around the whipping on my rope so it gets jammed on it and pulls it out of the tree, much prefer it over lanyard rope guide. it has also got a whip lock on the end of the rope then heat shrink and glue so even if it did loosen off while i was climbing its not going to be able to come off the end anyway.

Hey Quercus, Ik heb hem laten maken bij Safety Green. Het is een 1,5 m lijn met 2 oogsplitsen. Aan de ene kant een karabijnhaak (alu. ring is te klein) en aan de andere kant een harpsluiting. roel |

btw here's the rest of my climbing gear. It's not much, but enough for me. I use it when I work by Joost (an arborist) and sometimes for recreational tree climbing

Hey jim1nz, It works great. Retrive this rope guide go smoothly. Still don't have any problems so far. The carabiner is better as an aluminum ring. The ring is to small yep it's a screwgate |

Will the crab not be stressed in the wrong direction if its tight against a spar? A lot of tension will be in the wrong direction ie not down the spine and gate?

What do you guys think of leather cambium savers? Its more for the health of the tree than to make it asier on myself[most of the time i'm climbing on a tautline hitch anyway].
