Hi

Have anyone heard about fall-arrest system for tree branches?

Heard that the tying of rope on branching which were structurally weak to alleviate risk and reduce damages on urban areas to further enhance the safety of pedestrians and motorists.

Anyone know how to use the system/rope tying.

Hi Red Dot

Fall arrests can be set up any multitude of ways, using either rigging rope, rigging slings, cable bracing etc.

Basically the suspect branch is tied off like you were going to cut & lower it, but is anchored back to somewhere on the tree it self.

Can either be to a high point, if suspending the branch without down wards swing is important to stay above & clear of the target.

Or if there is more clearance to play with, it can be rigged off itself back to what it is attached to.

The tricky bit is guessing where it might fail

tks Ekka for the link. I'm new to fall arrest system on the limbs but trying to test out the possibility. Any recommendation on the strength of the ropes to be used on different diameter of the trunk size and weight. Any recommended rope strength.

Tks.
