Default Recreational Tree Climbing Laws

Does any one know if there are any laws or regulations in regards to recreational tree climbing in council parks or national parks. I contacted Brisbane city council and they said not to their knowledge, but that they would contact their lawyers. That was a couple of weeks ago and still no response.

LOL, well national parks it's not on .... apparently.

I would say as long as you do not damage the trees, go for it. Heck they let all sorts of people climb on Kangaroo Point cliff face and many have fallen too!

I go down the local park here in Springwood and set stuff up the trees often, shoot my videos there etc, but that's Logan Council. Brisbane City Council is a monolith.

Now if you are running as a business venture, like charging for rec climbs that could be a different story.

The thing is will BCC tell you the law or tell you what their lawyers want to cover their asses? That's the thing. Keep us informed if they respond.

If when dealing with Government or Councils on issues like this consider.

I received a reply today.
Strangely enough it was just after climbing a tree in my local park.

If you follow the link down to section 16.
Apparently it is to stop damage to trees and yourself.
