I work for a company (Skyco Equipment, Inc.) that supplies Bucket Trucks, Digger Derricks (Terex), Cranes, Chippers, Forestry/Chipper Trucks. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with Australian laws restricting certain vehicles/types from being used in that capacity? I am trying to research on my end as well, but thought it might be beneficial to ask. Was hoping that someone might have experience dealing with this sort of thing. Thanks, |

I emailed the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Australian Customs. Australian Chamber has forwarded my request for info to Aus. Customs and am awaiting reply. I shall post all information in this thread upon receipt! I know that this will be helpful information for anyone with contracts!

If anyone has any insite, please feel free to post. I am looking to establish a supply chain to Australia from the US. All units are put through a rigorous 210 point safety and operational inspection, dielectric testing, and DOT inspection. Here in the States, that is enough to be compliant, however, I know that a great deal on members are from Australia and Great Britain, so I was hoping this would attract a little more interest. Please add your 2 cents, as I see this benefiting all parties! Thanks, |

Please be patient, as I am reviewing the Customs Guide to Importing and Exporting. It would be nice to get some input, but I guess it's not that interesting of a topic. I should have some updates by Monday, 12/3.

Ive asked customs brokers what the deal is to not much avail,im guessing it wouldnt be that hard. Equipment needs to be washed to "as new" Ship me something and we will soon find out!

I would think that the equipment would just have to meet the australian standards for each indervidual peice of equipment.

One issue I believe that might be the deal killer is the steering column on the other side. Is there an exemption for that kind of thing? It is major coin to swap things like that around.

G'day GK1024, how did you go with your importing to Aus. idea. The prices in US look very attractive from here. Could be good margins for everyone with a bit of luck.
