Default Bankstown LGA, N.S.W. AUSTRALIA

The attached pdf is Bankstown Councils T.P.O.
Its worth a read ...even if you never work in this part of the world...I like it actually because its a "bigger picture " approach rather than the usual tree-by-tree basis. Its generous (but quite specific) on tree removal criteria.
I notice they are NOT too protective of Euc.nicholii and Corymbia citridora...there might be a history of problems with species in this area ???(Appendix 2).

Indeed that is a very nice TPO they have there.

The nicholii is the most renound out of all the Euc's for going over and having break outs during storms. Probably why they arn't too fond of them?

In the Illawarra also they peel off limbs in high winds. We had seriously high winds Aug 2003...and a SES friend said 80% of call-out were for nicholii. They grow quick .... and decline early.
In that same event we lost soooo many Hills Figs...ripped apart.

Well, I'm not clear on what is protected?

Everything outside of 3m of a building? No ht or dia relevance?

The "Tree" definition Bankstown City Council (2005) is any specimen "more than 6 metres tall OR with a girth of 500mm or more when measured at its greatest width, OR more than 10m across in the crown".
Its obviously been missed out of the the attached document.

Always pays to check Council web-sites, or even ring them up first.

Many of the T.M.O.'s only come up as leaflets..but the actual policy documents are harder to find.
