The answer to the question probably depends on just where you are, but in the UK the more usual advice is to prune cherries during the growing season. This is because of their vulnerability to silver leaf Chondrostereum purpureum. Pruning during the growing season leads to rapid sealing of the wounds with resins that reduce the likelihood of infection. |
