They will probably do fine by next year.

I was just looking at one of my shrubs that we were storing in a pot in shade. We moved it to a late day sun area (morning shade) and the leaves started to look pitiful - some fell off.

Anyhow, after 6 to 8 weeks, its getting new leaves. They won't get very big - but its fine.

Next year, you should see new green leaves in spring. But its a bit late in the season for improvement this year.
