OK, I got jiggy with the welder today. Had to weld the hub on the power roller for the conveyor on my tree truck. Since the welder was out, creating what we'd come up with earlier that morning was not a stretch.
As you can see, the device is simple, but WAY too big. A hundred mm??? This idea gets whacked right there. SRT-only? Many dozens if not hundreds of those devices out there.
Ok, no captions on the images so, #1, measuring, #2, dry fit, #3 plasma torch to nibble out a bit of thimble for a proper fit, #4 perfect, ready to weld. #5 zap, #6 ZZZAAPPP, #7 nice bead, lemme weld the other side, #8 cleaned up with the mini grinding wheel, closed position (note tight tolerances) #10 open position.
