Much of today, I spent tweaking an article on Wikipedia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arborsculpture
Whether or not the author of the book really coined the word, is hypothetical, but I think its an excellent choice whether or not he's mainly interested in selling his book.
He started the article, and it "discussion" there, you can see it was challenged. I decided to support the art, and developed the page.
The man was "caving in" to other critics by adding "topiary" in the article to compare to arborsculpture. But I rewrote the article elaborating on why its neither topiary or espallier. Not sure if he was just trying to appease other people editing the article. Whatever the case, there is no way that those furniture out of trees projects look anything like the topiary on Wikipedia's topiary article page - check it out.
It is an art. I've done it myself. Its an art without a name, and so I think it may as well be assigned a name. The one he promoted is as good as any, and he apparently is very good at it.
So happens - and I've never met him - that he lives about 30 minutes away from here. Small world
