Here the SES will just make it safe and leave the rest to be sorted out either thru insurance or privately.

Storm work is a good income generator, but EMERGENCY storm work is more hassle than its worth most times. I'd rather let the SES do that part of it.

MOst times its panic stations for the customer, they (dozens of seperate people at once) want you and a crew there immediately regardless of day or time. Half the time there is no immediate danger, just a tree laying in the back yard that wont fall a 2nd time. And because its not a job you already quoted they freak at even a normal price let alone a loading for doing it after hours.

I'd rather look after my existing customers that have had the foresight to have their trees checked out, decided on a solution, confident in our service, agreed on our price, booked us in etc. Why should i cancel a job of theirs to run round chasing crap.

Then storm work for my existing customers and regular repair/insurers gets preferance over ring ins.

I had one of these go ape (after doing it) at me for wanting $300+gst per hr (normal rate for 3 men, truck & 18") to drop everything, cancel our existing work to come and clear his driveway. He said "Not even a QC makes that much" I dont make that much, thats got to cover 5 people, $200,000 worth of equipment, maintenance, advertising etc.
