Boa, I was gob smacked by the attitude toward water when I moved here ... I came from Adelaide, 500mm annual rainfall and conservation was always thought about.
The neighbour across the road continued washing down the driveway until it was banned ... she's a school teacher! She even got a blower but prefered the hose, I never seen such waste as here ... it's ingrained in the peoples attitudes.
Oh yeah, it was only 2007 that Qld prohibited wholesale land clearing ... they were the worst in Australia and 6th worst in the world.
