In city they go to a sewer system, regional they may go septic and have what's called a silage hose to "grey" water the garden. In the city they're recycling the sewer water after filtration back into the dam. That project should be complete in around 18months.

The situation is getting dire now. We are at level 5 restrictions. Only bucket watering of plants (lawns banned) between 4pm and 8pm a couple days per week.
Household water use is under the scope. House holds using more than 800 litres a day will be investigated and recommendations must be implemented or penalties.
Topping up of pools prohibited unless 4 water saving devices fitted (pool cover, dual flush toilets, front loader washing machine, low flow shower heads) ... bugger that so I installed a water tank that hopefully catches enough rain to fill the pool.
