I'm sure we've all been called out to cases like that.
I always suggest to the client they also get a builder's report or structural engineers report, the call goes further than our profession.
What if, in fact, by leaving the tree etc you actually breached a code of sorts you were unaware of?
It could be subsidence, cracked pipe somewhere leading to moisture so even a soil test is likely.
Was there any reasonable excavation to see what roots if any etc?
The advantage in that case Guy is the client still lives there. Should the house go up for sale, I take it like here everyone would get a builders report and then what, more problems.
I just think when it comes to stuff like this you have to be thorough and offer the other professions. We are not builders, geo technicians, plumbers or structural engineers. I'd be calling in or making recommendations for the ole vac-u-digga to come have a look see coz it's all guessing that's going on here. |
