Default building a home in the woods

Hello,

This is my first post here. I have been looking for information concerning clearing for a building site. I am located in Ohio, about five miles off of Lake Erie. I am in the process of clearing my land for a building site. I want to clear as little as possible, but am unsure how stout the trees will be on the perimiter of my clearing, once I have taken down thier neighboring trees. The woods is mostly maple, some beech and cherry, and I am guessing about 50 years since it was a cow pasture. average ht. about 60 ft. The trees I am mostly concerned with are several multi trunked maples that are on the edge of the clearing. Should I consider wiring the trunks together, or are they too weak to leave looming over me and my home?

Thank you.
