New Farm Park tree problems cost $90,000 - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Quote:
The Brisbane City Council has revealed it has spent $90,000 so far addressing problems with the trees in New Farm Park.

The Council today began planting new trees to replace the seven 90-year-old jacarandas that have been removed.

Seven trees were pulled down last week on the advice of an independent arborist after four other trees fell over.

Lord Mayor Campbell Newman says one mature tree was planted today, and another four will go in next month.

"We have a reasonable expectation they'll all survive the transplanting operation," he said.

"Our council officers and arborists and experts will be doing everything they can to make sure that they're given all the tender love and attention they need to make sure that they flourish.

"We'll also be doing some work on some existing trees."
Advice of an independent arborist insinuates 1 person, yet they've had every man and his dog there, of course not counting their own expertise.

Also this.

The new trees, which came at a cost of $2500 each, were planted in a different area of the park to the diseased specimens.

That section of the ringroad will require a complete excavation to completely remove the soil the old trees were in because so little was known about why they failed, a council officer said.
Now does anyone else read the contradiction here?

Some-one says they have to go but no-one knows why? LOL

So how did they figure it out, if they dont know, which stays and which goes?

Also, there's like dead wood and fruiting bodies sticking out of the friggin things you dont reckon that had something to do with it?

Outside of the fenced off areas many others have been been removed, some going back to 2005 for same decline, deadwood etc, but they aren't excavating the soil there either. Seems a lot of conflicting BS going on here.
