Newguy18, that truck is long gone. If memory serves me right the headers were from Clifford research, and the carb was ready on it. The ignition was reconfigured, to do away with the vacuum retard valve.
Like I said, the thing ended up in the wrong country. It had California emmisions. At the end of the modifications, it ran like it should have, right out of the box.
I don't get the thinking of the engineers these days, my grandpa bought a new Oldsmobile Delmont 88 (1968) w a 455 CID, 2 barrel carb, and single exhaust. It was rated at 425 HP stock. At 80 MPH it was abe to give us 28 MPG, and had lots more to give. Don't forget these were high compression engines, and ran REAL gasoline. Lead and NO benzene was he secret.
I ran aviation fuel (105 octane) in a class "F" flat-track Polaris snowmobile, plus a dribble of alcohol. Worked well until I misjudged the temperature and blew the heads through the hood at about 75mph. I ended up having to plane the heads .035 just to make them flat again. Oversize studs, and good-to-go-again. The clutch was worked to kick in at 9000 rpm, you had to install a NEW belt every other time I started it up.
I wish could turn back time to when there was lots of money, and nothing to spend it on BUT toys.

If this 20/20 hindsight was do able,I would probably be retired by now. I am halfway there, I have the tired part down to a fine art form.
