not that i'm at all an expert on the topic, but it seems to me that buying all these wonderful gadgets is probably going to end up biting you in arse some day. i've heard of many a man who didn't learn to climb with knots properly, that got stuck in a tree because they either lost, forgot or broke their toys.

if you have a climbers companion, read it. then take the bare essentials and learn those. once you can tie every knot in the dark and can climb on that, you probably won't even want that other crap anymore.
