Sawsong I may be reading this wrong but it sounds like you are still attempting to hip thrust with the pulley. If you are using a pulley to tend your knot then you will no longer be hip thrusting but as Ekka mentioned hauling yourself up the tree. Both hands above your friction hitch at all times till you have to tend the knot or a ground worker does. If I have misread disregard.
