Re: So whadya get up to today. Yesterday and today I watched while going about my business, near my lot, an Asplundh crew with 5 men on the ground in fluorescent bibs, the city with 4 men on the ground, a 65 foot bucket truck with an inhabitant and a climber 30 feet above the totally outstretched boom take 2 eight hour days to strip out a big oak to the 40 foot trunk that still remains there.
We took out a little bigger oak a few years ago that was it;s mate, a hundred yards down the road with my big picker, one groundman and a 55 ton crane and operator and had the entire tree down, ground level and off the site in less than 6 hours.
I would calculate that to be 176 man hours to our 18 man hours and who knows how they were going to get the rest out bent over the hots? It they are going to get a crane, why didn't they get it earlier?
I wouldn't have taken a video if I had one as I wouldn't want to make the climber more nervous, but bad tree work is hard to watch. |
