Default Re: Hamilton 400

Oh Bill, did I say it was stock? I put split headers on it, it was equipped with a two barrel carb, and I discovered that it had California emmisions on it. I ONLY had to figure out what to do with about 50 extra vacuum lines.

The rest of the truck was a dud, rear-end problems, and the transmission case cracked along a casting mark. If you want to get real good at twisting wreckes, try and race a '67 Ford Fairlane 500, and keep the front wheels on it, on a dirt track. The last spindle I changed out on it took about 15 minutes, BUT i had had a lot of practice.

The one chevelle we ran had 4 different engines in it in one year, 350/283/327and finally a in-line 6. Boy where we lucky the tech guys were so young, they didn't know the differance in the V8s. Our competetors sure did though.

Now it would be economic suicide to try and dirt track race, all the good old rear wheel drive cars are gone, and V8 power trains would be worth their weight in gold. Ah! the good old days, gone but not forgotten.

As a side note the Fairlane needed a side window when I got it, IF I would have restored it to original, I could have retired, 20/20 hind-site!
